CLASS ATTIRE

WHAT SHOULD MY DANCER WEAR?

Each style of dance requires the proper attire and shoes. Please find your dancer's class style below for more more information. Dancewear can be purchased in person at local retail shops, or online at sites like: Discount Dance, Capezio, or Amazon.

All dancers ages 3-6 in our Preschool and Beginner programs should stay in their ballet attire through out the duration of class. They will be instructed to change shoes at the appropriate time.

Dancers participating in our Level 1-5 Classes should bring a change of clothes for each class, or wear their ballet attire for all classes that day. Level 1-5 Dancers will receive one dress code warning, before being asked to observe.

Hip Hop Attire: Hip Hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.

Dancers are free to wear any color athletic wear to class. Sweat pants are permitted, but please make sure the instructor is able to correct body alignment.  No offensive content may be displayed on dancer's clothing. Flat sole tennis shoes should be worn during class.
Ballet Attire: Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the- floor combinations. The ballet curriculum is based on a combination of the French, Vaganova, and Cecchetti methods.

All dancers should be dressed in a black leotard and pink tights, with pink soft-sole Ballet slippers or approved pointe shoes for class. Dancers' hair should be secure and out of their face. Dancers participating in Ballet Levels 1-5 must secure their hair in a neat bun.
Tap Attire: Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style, and sound. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class will help to develop proper tap technique and clear tap sounds.

Dancers are free to wear any color fitted dance wear to class. No loose tanks, or baggy t-shirts. Please make sure the instructor is able to correct body alignment.  Dancers 3-6 should wear "Mary Jane" style, black tap shoes with buttons, snaps, or laces, and dancers 7+ should wear black lace up tap shoes.
Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Pom, and Drill Attire: These styles of dance are more technical and focus skills in center and progressions across the floor.

Dancers are free to wear any color fitted dance wear to class. No loose tanks, baggy t-shirts, or sweat pants. Please make sure the instructor is able to correct body alignment and leg lines.  All dancers are encouraged to wear tan jazz shoes or half soles to class to protect their feet, or dance barefoot if preferred.
